Miss Lottie has been a custodian at Steilacoom High School for twelve years and served as lead custodian for five years. Junior Jaymason Willingham said, “She always gets the job done and is always there when you need her.” Around school, Miss Lottie is known to be a quiet and reserved individual. Surprisingly, Miss Lottie’s surname isn’t Lottie but Adams. She says she can’t remember how it all started, but recalls that one person called her by her first name then it started a chain reaction and eventually stuck.

Malachi Greman, a senior, stated, “Miss Lottie always keeps a positive attitude and looks so calm.” When asked for a reason behind always appearing so unbothered, she responded that she had to learn patience from growing up in a family of twelve; she had eight brothers and three sisters! She was born in Texas but was raised in West Philadelphia and her favorite childhood memory coincides with her growing up years: when the neighborhood would hold a block party. Interestingly, Miss Lottie went to West Philadelphia High School, the opposite side of where the Fresh Prince of Bel Air went to high school.

As a lead custodian, she takes her job very seriously and gets frustrated when she sees litter–though not a lot of things bother her. In her free time she likes to read Bible scriptures and tidy up the house because she hates clutter and enjoys when everything is clean. Senior Victoria Shepard said, “Miss Lottie brightens up my day everytime she says good morning.” Not only does Miss Lottie appreciate cleanliness, she believes in spreading kindness because she loves to help others.  Her favorite memory at SHS was when she was first given the title of lead custodian. Miss Lottie plans to continue working at Steilacoom High School so if you see her around, don’t be shy and say hello or thank her for her hard work.
